Though it may seem simple, boosting the flow of blood to injured soft tissue (bursae, muscles, tendons, etc) is often more difficult than it seems. Traditional methods of healing require your muscle to move to promote blood flow (exercise), but that same motion that promotes blood flow can at times lead to making your pain and condition worse.
Oxygen and nutrients, carried within the blood, are critical for the body to heal itself. Although tendons contain blood vessels and nerves, compared to other parts of the body, the Achilles tendons have a very poor supply of blood.
